Hong Kong Productivity Council Helps Hong Kong Enterprises in the Greater Bay Area Upgrade and Transform to Build an Advanced Manufacturing Base

2023-09-06

In recent years, new industrialization has been regarded as one of the key development directions in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. We hope to use innovative technology to help upgrade and transform the manufacturing industry, improve production efficiency, promote the optimization and upgrading of the industrial chain in the Greater Bay Area, and build an advanced manufacturing base with international competitiveness. Hong Kong's advantages lie in its research and development capabilities and product design, while mass production relies on the strong industrial chain scale of mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area. Therefore, the advantages of both sides can complement each other, helping enterprises upgrade and transform to achieve true intelligent manufacturing. "Recently, Lai Shaobin, CEO of Mainland Business of the Hong Kong Productivity Promotion Council, said in a media interview. The Hong Kong Productivity Council (hereinafter referred to as the "Productivity Council"), established in 1967, is a statutory body in Hong Kong. As a promoter of Industry 4.0, the Productivity Bureau has provided advanced technology and innovative services to mainland Hong Kong funded enterprises in recent years, encouraging them to upgrade and transform, promoting the development of new industrialization in the Greater Bay Area, and helping enterprises "bring in and go out" through Hong Kong. Recently, reporters visited two Hong Kong funded enterprises located in Zhongshan and cooperating with the Productivity Bureau, and Li Shaobin referred to them as "model students". The first is Honglida, a mold supplier founded in Hong Kong in 1988. It has factories in mainland China and Malaysia to manufacture precision plastic components and products such as medical device components, maternal and child health products, industrial and automotive components. In 2018, the Productivity Bureau introduced a self-developed workshop digital management system with artificial intelligence for Honglida Zhongshan Base, allowing managers to grasp the real-time status of the production workshop, improve production, inventory, and process quality management, reduce employee communication costs, and achieve paperless and fast information exchange, making the enterprise more environmentally friendly. In the production workshop, the sound of machine operation can be heard everywhere, but no one is operating it. Originally, the workshop has already been "unmanned", and some workshops are equipped with multiple robots, which do not stop work 24 hours according to the planned route. Cai Junjie, founder and CEO of Honglida Group, stated that transforming into Honglida brings direct returns. In 2022, Honglida's per capita annual output value increased by about 37% compared to 2018, with significant improvements in output value and profits. In the afternoon of that day, the reporter came to the die-casting machine manufacturer Lijin Group, which was established in Hong Kong in 1979 and developed cold and hot chamber die-casting machines and magnesium alloy die-casting machines. Currently, it has developed into a multinational enterprise, and the equipment produced is sold worldwide. Xie Xiaosi, Executive Director of Lijin Technology Group, introduced that both parties have been cooperating for more than 20 years. The Productivity Bureau provides various technical support and testing, such as in the application and promotion of carbon fiber composite materials and processes in the automotive field. Through close cooperation, Lijin and the Productivity Bureau have successfully achieved the effective combination of injection molding and carbon fiber material hot pressing processes. At the same time, the Productivity Bureau has also shared technology with Lijin multiple domestic and international exhibitions Promotion. In 2000, the Productivity Bureau assisted Lijin in inspecting the design of injection molding and die-casting machines and proposed modifications to comply with European safety standards. Enterprises achieve intelligent production, generally saving 30% or more in overall costs, and doubling or more in production capacity. "Li Shaobin revealed that currently, 10% of Hong Kong funded enterprises in mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area have reached a relatively advanced level of intelligent manufacturing, while the rest can only be processed locally
