The manufacturing industry in the Greater Bay Area has launched a "breakthrough battle" for digital transformation

Editor's note: Since the beginning of this year, the manufacturing industry in major economic systems such as Europe and America has continued to contract. Although the PMI of China's manufacturing industry rebounded to 49.3% in July, some companies surveyed by the National Bureau of Statistics have reported that the current external environment is complex and severe, with a decrease in overseas orders and insufficient demand, which are still the main difficulties faced by companies. The Political Bureau meeting of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held on July 24th proposed to "accelerate the cultivation of strategic emerging industries and create more pillar industries", and to promote the deep integration of the digital economy with advanced manufacturing and modern service industries. Digital transformation and upgrading have become the only way for the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry. Recently, reporters from Securities Daily visited Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan and other places on site to delve into multiple manufacturing enterprises in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. By exploring the transformation process of enterprises, they gained insight into the pulse of China's economic vitality. An hour's drive from Guangzhou takes you to Chang'an Town, the "No.1 Town in Dongguan". This small town, with only 81.53 square kilometers and a permanent population of 800000, has nurtured seven listed companies, globally renowned mobile phone manufacturers OPPO, vivo, and leading enterprises such as Little Genius. In Chang'an Town, there are nearly 200000 industrial workers serving the mobile phone industry chain. In 2022, the total industrial output value of Chang'an Town reached 273.33 billion yuan. Entering Yuangang Street in Chang'an Town, you can see the production workshop of Yttrium Hong Precision. This narrow one-way street is crowded with similar factories, with the factory gate facing the gate and the dormitory building next to it. This is like a microcosm of the manufacturing industry in Dongguan and even the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area (hereinafter referred to as the "Greater Bay Area"), where the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain are closely connected at the physical level. Walking through a street can gather all the parts of a product. Since the beginning of this year, the global electronic consumer market has continued to decline, and industry chain suppliers have been severely impacted. The more challenging an environment is, the more problems need to be solved through digitization. Employees need to be freed from tedious processes to the greatest extent possible, and more energy should be invested in improving product yield, quality, and capacity efficiency. "said Hua Jiansheng, Deputy General Manager of Yihong Precision. This is also the most intuitive feeling that the reporter had during the manufacturing industry investigation process in the Greater Bay Area. Against the backdrop of the world economy still facing downward pressure and insufficient demand for domestic economic recovery, small and medium-sized manufacturing companies are responding to round after round of challenges through digital transformation to reduce costs and increase efficiency. From production digitization to management and service digitization, including the CEO, Yihong Precision has only 45 employees and a total factory area of only 4000 square meters. However, it can produce 300000 directly welded Type-C interfaces every day, which are key components of the Type-C charging line. Its end customers include Sony, Nintendo, and others. The company's production workshop has three floors, covering four stages of direct welding Type-C interface production. The reporter noticed that there was a white board in a prominent place at the entrance of the assembly workshop, with the words "Assembly Work Order Execution Progress Kanban" written on it, but the specific content was not filled in the table; A similar table is displayed on a nearby LCD display, with detailed content and a clear view of personnel work orders. Obviously, monitors have replaced traditional whiteboards. This kind of 'substitution' can be found everywhere in the factory
