How can college student employment data be falsified

2023-08-15

The Ministry of Education has recently dispatched multiple working groups to carry out special inspections in various provinces to strictly investigate the falsification of employment data. The falsification of employment data reflects the distorted utilitarian political performance view of some universities, which is actually self deception. Real and accurate employment data is an important basis for carrying out stable employment work, and a zero tolerance attitude must be maintained towards various fraudulent behaviors. The employment rate is an important indicator to measure the level of university education, and a high employment rate is beneficial for enhancing the influence and reputation of universities. In order to make the data "look beautiful", some universities have not put in effort in providing assistance, but have instead resorted to brainwashing, racking their brains to inject water into the data, and even resorted to "strange" practices such as forcing graduates to sign employment agreements. The employment data that is eye-catching has had a negative impact on the overall employment situation and the discipline setting of universities. One is to interfere with departmental decision-making. In recent years, the number of college graduates in China has been huge, and the employment situation of college graduates from different regions and categories has a significant impact on the overall employment situation of the country. Both at the central and local levels, objective and accurate employment data is needed as a reference for decision-making, in order to introduce targeted policy measures. Some universities' fraud can mislead decision-making, interfere with the implementation of effective policies, and also waste valuable public resources. Secondly, it affects professional adjustments. According to relevant national regulations, majors with low employment rates need to reduce enrollment plans or even suspend enrollment. This regulation is aimed at adapting the professional settings of universities to the needs of social and economic development, and avoiding blindly opening majors. Through real employment data, it can be seen which majors no longer meet social needs and which majors need to reduce enrollment. Some universities falsify employment data, which is not conducive to timely adjustment of professional settings, ultimately leading to a mismatch in talent supply and demand. Reality is the life of data. For the falsification of employment data in universities, it is necessary to deeply analyze the reasons and take targeted measures. In addition to strengthening irregular spot checks and supervision, punishment and accountability for statistical fraud should be increased, and quantitative indicators for employment data statistics should be further clarified to reduce the space for fraud. Reducing intermediate interference can also make the data closer to reality. As stakeholders, universities can easily raise doubts about the objectivity of their own data disclosure. In this case, it is entirely possible to try promoting graduates to directly fill in information in third-party employment systems. For example, the Ministry of Education has sent a message to 2023 college graduates reminding them to log in to the National College Graduation Destination Registration System in a timely manner to confirm their graduation destination information, which is a good attempt. The blatant act of falsifying data goes against the spirit of teaching and educating people, and also undermines social norms. Once it is discovered that universities have engaged in illegal activities such as false contracts and false certificates, they should be dealt with seriously in accordance with regulations and disciplines, and relevant responsible persons will not be tolerated, in order to effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of graduates in employment.
