From empowering thousands of businesses to entering thousands of households, the new engine of 5G is accelerating from "built well" to "used well". It has been four years since the official issuance of the 5G commercial license in June 2019 in China. According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of June this year, China has built and opened a total of 2.937 million 5G base stations, accounting for 60% of the global total; The 5G network covers all prefecture level and county level urban areas; 5G applications have been integrated into 60 major categories of the national economy, with a cumulative number of application cases exceeding 50000. In the past four years, China has vigorously promoted the development of the 5G industry, built the world's largest 5G network, continuously improved network coverage, expanded integrated applications, and strengthened the supporting role of digital development. Everything is interconnected, data is interconnected, and the information and communication industry is the infrastructure that provides support for the development of the digital economy, becoming a strategic, fundamental, and leading industry in the national economy. Whether it is to facilitate the smooth circulation of the world's richest data resources or fully leverage the advantages of rich application scenarios, the dual helix of digital industrialization and industrial digitization cannot be separated from the "base" of 5G communication. China has continuously made efforts in the construction of new infrastructure such as 5G, building a good ecosystem for the development of the digital economy, and creating rich soil for the emergence of new technologies, formats, and models. Behind the leapfrog development from "3G breakthrough" and "4G synchronization" to "5G leadership" is strong national capabilities and institutional advantages, which will help China seize the opportunity of a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. 5G has three major characteristics: high-speed, ultra large connectivity, and ultra-low latency, which can effectively support the application of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and other technologies. Data transmission capacity and latency are limiting factors for the implementation of many technology applications. For example, remote precision surgery requires timely and efficient data transmission due to the need to handle many unexpected situations during the surgical process; For example, unmanned driving technology requires the transmission of massive amounts of data, and the support of advanced communication technology is crucial. Nowadays, China's 5G development has officially entered the "second half" of industrial upgrading and integrated evolution. With strong network connectivity capabilities, it will promote the penetration of new generation digital technologies such as big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence into the real economy, fully leveraging the amplification, superposition, and multiplication effects of digital technology on economic development. Seizing the commanding heights of future development, we must not wait for the moment, take a quick step, deepen, expand, and refine 5G applications, and promote more innovative achievements in business formats. In terms of 5G coverage, it is necessary to continue to consolidate the network foundation, accelerate the construction and deployment of 5G networks and gigabit optical networks, continuously improve the level of 5G network coverage in rural and remote areas, and provide better and better telecommunications universal services; From the perspective of 5G technology evolution, it is still necessary to accelerate core technology innovation, strengthen 5G enhancement technology research and development, and accelerate millimeter wave and lightweight
