Why do floods increase the probability of public health disasters? According to experts from the Health Emergency Center of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, floods are likely to cause pollution of drinking water sources, increasing the risk of outbreaks of water-borne and Foodborne illness such as infectious diarrhea, dysentery and typhoid fever in disaster areas. In addition, floods inundate septic tanks, sewers, etc., leading to Putrefaction of animals, breeding of vector organisms such as mosquitoes and flies, and the risk of schistosomiasis, encephalitis B and other insect vectors and Sexually transmitted infection in natural foci will increase accordingly. Experts said that once the flood disaster occurs, people in the disaster area should pay attention to the following prevention points, including drinking water hygiene, not drinking raw water, drinking boiled water or Bottled water that meets the hygiene standards; Pay attention to dietary hygiene, wash hands before and after meals, separate raw and cooked food, cook thoroughly, and avoid eating food that has been spoiled or soaked in sewage; Timely remove accumulated water and sludge, and choose the correct method for disinfection; Do a good job of preventing flies and killing flies, rodents and rodents, and mites and mites; Timely disposal of animal carcasses, such as burial or burning; Seek medical attention promptly for fever and diarrhea; Do not rub your eyes with your hands, especially dirty hands, and actively wear a mask when in contact with the patient; Maintain clean and dry skin, etc. The reporter learned that in order to carry out timely, standardized, and efficient health emergency work for flood control and disaster relief, health departments and disease control institutions in multiple provinces across the country have actively developed health emergency plans for flood and debris flow disasters. The terrain of Sichuan Province is hilly and mountainous, with abundant water systems. The Sichuan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention has deployed timely environmental dredging and disinfection, and repaired drinking water facilities damaged by floods. Yunnan Province has a diverse terrain and is a high-risk area for flood and debris flow disasters. The "Yunnan Province Flood and Debris Flow Disaster Health Emergency Plan" requires disease prevention and control institutions at all levels to implement a 24-hour epidemic duty system, assign dedicated personnel to collect, organize, and analyze the epidemic, and implement a daily report system and zero report system for disaster related infectious diseases.
