Welcome to the "Heavenly Palace" for experiments

2023-07-27

Zhu Yangzhu, an astronaut of Shenzhou 16, waved after successfully exiting the capsule. Guo Zhongzheng, a reporter from Xinhua News Agency, recently, after about 8 hours of extravehicular activities, Shenzhou 16 astronauts Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao successfully completed all the scheduled tasks of extravehicular activities with the support of the space station manipulator. This was the first extravehicular activity of the crew of Shenzhou 16 astronauts and the first extravehicular activity of Chinese space flight engineers. As the first crew to enter the "National Spacelab" after its full completion, the Shenzhou 16 astronauts, known as the "doctoral crew", completed a series of space science experiments and extravehicular installation. As the space station enters the stage of application and development, more and more scientific experiments and research achievements will be born in the "Heavenly Palace". During the successful exit of Shenzhou 16 astronauts, they completed the installation and lifting of the on orbit support of the core module Omnidirectional (360-degree) camera B, and the unlocking and lifting of the Mengtian module Omnidirectional (360-degree) camera A and B. Jing Haipeng, an astronaut who flew four times, cooperated with this extravehicular activity from the cabin of Shenzhou 7, and realized his dream of "space walk" with 15 years of persistence, while Zhu Yangzhu, an astronaut, became China's first aerospace flight engineer for extravehicular activities. Why lift the camera? Li Xuedong, Deputy Chief Designer of the Space Station System of the Overall Design Department of the Fifth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group, said that by lifting the Omnidirectional (360-degree) camera, the field of view of astronauts and researchers can be further expanded. We will have a clearer understanding of the radial docking of future spacecraft and the inspection process and work of solar wings. Wang Yanlei, director of the astronaut selection and training room of the China Astronaut Center, said that in addition to the main task of extravehicular camera lifting, another task of this extravehicular trip was the connection of extravehicular load cables. There were many extravehicular tasks and the path of Extravehicular activity was long. To ensure smooth outbound activities, the various systems of the mission underwent a full process of coordinated exercises between heaven and earth before outbound, further improving and solidifying the outbound procedures. Three astronauts also underwent targeted in orbit training. Wang Yanlei said that the three astronauts have strong operational abilities, all tasks are completed in one go, with precise and precise operations. The entire rhythm is well controlled, and the cooperation is also very harmonious. All tasks have been steadily advancing Since the successful entry into the space station assembly on May 30, the crew of Shenzhou 16 astronauts has been in orbit for nearly two months, and more than 1/3 of the five month space scientific research trip has been completed. All space science practical (test) tasks undertaken have been steadily progressing. Since entry, facing the heavy task of space science practice (test), the crew quickly adapted to the environment and entered the state, carried out a series of space science practice (test) in the fields of life ecology, space Micro-g environment physics and other fields, and participated in the installation of the space radiation biology exposure experimental device of the Mengtian module, the gas cylinder of the space station electric propulsion system and other outbound installation work. Among them, the biological exposure experiment of extravehicular radiation was conducted for the first time in China. The use of this radiation device for research will provide strong support for radiation damage to human organisms, genetic variation, preparation of radiation protection drugs, and biological assessment of radiation risks. It is of positive significance for ensuring the long-term healthy stay of astronauts in orbit and promoting the implementation of manned lunar landing plans.
