2023-07-24

Shenyang, July 20th (Xinhua News Agency) (Reporter Gao Shuang) "Three dog days" are the time of year when the temperature is high and severe heatstroke is prone to occur. Heat stroke is one of the forms of severe heatstroke. What is heat stroke? What are the symptoms of the disease? How to effectively prevent? In response, the reporter interviewed Li Jingdong, Deputy Director of the Emergency Department of Shenyang Fourth People's Hospital in Liaoning Province. "Heat stroke is a central dysfunction of Thermoregulation caused by high temperature and humidity. Its typical clinical manifestations are high fever, Disorders of consciousness and no sweat." Li Jingdong said that in addition to heat stroke, severe heatstroke also has two forms: Heat cramps and heat exhaustion. It is understood that heat stroke is generally developed from premonitory heatstroke or mild heatstroke. If the patient has symptoms such as headache, dizziness, thirst, sweating, and limb weakness, and their body temperature is normal or slightly elevated, they will be transferred to a cool and ventilated place to cool down, replenish water and salt, and the symptoms will be relieved in a short period of time, indicating a premonitory heatstroke; When the body temperature exceeds 38 ℃, accompanied by symptoms such as flushing, excessive sweating, or cold limbs, pale complexion, decreased blood pressure, and increased pulse, it is transferred to a cool and ventilated place to cool down, replenish water and salt, and recover within a few hours, indicating mild heatstroke. If premonitory or mild heatstroke is not diagnosed and treated in a timely manner, it may develop into heat stroke, "said Li Jingdong. Li Jingdong said that due to the fact that most people, especially outdoor manual workers and the elderly, do not have the ability to "adapt to heat" or have not received corresponding training, it is difficult to tolerate the temperature changes in the environment due to high temperatures, The most effective preventive measure is to avoid prolonged stay and exercise in high temperatures, high humidity, and unventilated environments. In summer, one should rest fully, replenish water and salt, and drink water soaked in chrysanthemums, honeysuckle, lotus leaves, mint, and patchouli to clear heat and relieve heat. Experts remind that heatstroke can endanger life. If someone is suspected of heatstroke, they should call the emergency hotline as soon as possible and quickly cool down the patient before medical staff arrive, If using a cool wet towel or ice pack to compress the head, armpits, and thigh roots.
