On site of the media conference for the "Hong Kong Volunteer Work Survey". Dai Xiaotong's media conference on "Hong Kong Volunteer Work Survey" was held in Hong Kong on the 19th. According to the survey results released at the press conference, more than 30% of the respondents said they hoped to have the opportunity to participate in voluntary work in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area and other mainland cities in the future. It is understood that the survey was commissioned by the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong Marketing Department by the Hong Kong Volunteer Development Council (the Volunteer Bureau) in June this year. The results showed that more than 90% of the 661 respondents had participated in voluntary work in the past 5 years, including helping others in an organized or spontaneous manner. The average length of time that respondents devote to volunteer work per month is approximately 12.84 hours. Kuang Jiaqi, an assistant professor of the Department of Marketing at Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, said that according to the survey results, the equivalent economic output of Hongkongers people as volunteers reached HK $210.6 billion, equivalent to about 7.45% of Hongkongers's GDP in 2022. Hong Kong people's economic contribution to voluntary work is above the world average, but there is still room for development in terms of the popularization of voluntary work. The survey also showed that in addition to participating in local voluntary work, more than 30% of the respondents said they hoped to have the opportunity to participate in voluntary work in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area and other mainland cities in the future. The Chairman of the Volunteer Council, Peng Yunxi, stated that in the past, the Volunteer Council has launched the "Hong Kong Volunteer Award" and established a series of Love School Awards to encourage school teachers and students to actively participate in volunteer work. At the same time, the Hong Kong Volunteer Institute has been established to promote high-quality volunteer services, provide training and professional consulting services for volunteers, volunteer leaders, and volunteer managers from all walks of life, and publish reference materials and textbooks for volunteer work. The Future Volunteer Bureau will also arrange to exchange service experience and insights with volunteer groups in the Greater Bay Area. (New News Agency)
