Recently, the National Health Commission held a press conference to introduce the relevant situation of China's medical emergency system and capacity building. Guo Yanhong, Director of the Medical Emergency Department of the National Health Commission, stated that China has established 40 national level medical emergency teams and has now achieved full coverage of emergency medical rescue bases at the provincial level. It is reported that among the 40 national level medical emergency teams, 32 are national emergency medical rescue teams, 5 are poisoning rescue teams, and 3 are nuclear radiation rescue teams. At the same time, each province has established a total of 6500 medical emergency teams at the provincial, municipal, and county levels, and has achieved equipment integration, portability, and team self-sufficiency. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, China plans to increase the number of medical emergency teams and improve their equipment and facilities on top of the existing 40 national level medical emergency teams, such as adding critical care units, installing command systems with 5G information systems, and equipping them with mobile CT. Guo Yanhong said that China has deployed about 20 major epidemic medical emergency teams, with basic professional configurations including breathing, infection, critical care, imaging, testing, etc., and also equipped with critical care units.
