Youth development is crucial for the future of the country, and the achievements of youth innovation and entrepreneurship have received much attention. With the customs clearance between the mainland and Hong Kong, the development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area has pressed the "acceleration key" again, and the high-quality construction of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area has taken solid steps, bringing new opportunities and challenges to young people. In this expectant period, Xinshe and Xiao Guanming, director of the entrepreneurship project of the Entrepreneurship Center of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, had a dialogue to understand the development and changes of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and jointly explore the path of innovation and entrepreneurship of Hong Kong youth. After 32 years of hard work and fruitful scientific research achievements, a representative sculpture of "red bird sundial" came into sight near the square of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The sundial is a major invention of humanity in the field of astronomy and timing, containing the wisdom of humanity for thousands of years and also meaning "eternal and unchanging"; The red bird shape displays a soaring and dancing posture, like a flame, full of passion and dynamism. It is not difficult to see the ambition of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "HKUST") on the road of development and innovation in the past 32 years from this sculpture, which is intertwined with history and future, nature and technology. It is understood that Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was founded in 1991. After years of continuous cultivation by all teachers and students, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has become an institution with international influence and actively cultivating excellent local talents in Hong Kong. In fields such as science, engineering, business management, and humanities and social sciences, it has reached world-class levels. The core values of "pursuing excellence, adhering to integrity, maintaining Academic freedom, looking at global development, contributing to local society, harmony, integration, diversity, mutual respect, and doing everything" are deeply integrated into all aspects of HKUST's teaching and research. HKUST has invested heavily in scientific research and achieved fruitful results. Today, HKUST has two State Key Laboratory, two national engineering technology research centers, three InnoHK innovative Hong Kong R&D platforms, nine school level experimental centers, etc. in Hong Kong; Interact with well-known scientific research enterprises such as Huawei, BGI Gene, DJI, Didi, and Nanfeng Biology, and establish joint laboratories. HKUST is continuously enhancing its international influence and striving to become a more internationally renowned university. Currently, there are over 17000 undergraduate and graduate students from over 80 different countries and regions around the world at HKUST. HKUST has established partnerships with over 300 top universities both domestically and internationally, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Harvard University, Columbia University, and Cambridge University. Every year, over 1000 exchange students come here to study, and over 40% of students have the opportunity to participate in international academic exchanges during their undergraduate studies, which is a leading proportion. In addition, HKUST also encourages teachers and students to apply innovative scientific research achievements on campus. Currently, projects that have been implemented include student registration management and education certification blocks, intelligent air detection, campus digital twin towers, tree networking, and campus water treatment systems. On the one hand, this move creates experimental scenarios for scientific research projects between teachers and students, and cultivates international scientific research talents with innovative thinking; On the other hand, we aim to create sustainable, smart, and "zero carbon" campuses and strive to solve the challenges encountered in urban development.
