Qin Gang Holds a Phone Call with German Foreign Minister Bell Burke

2023-06-20

On the evening of June 19, Qin Gang, State councillor and Foreign Minister, had a telephone conversation with German Foreign Minister Burke. Qin Gang said that China and Germany are important partners and China–Germany relations relations are very close. Premier Li Qiang is on an official visit to Germany and will co chair the seventh round of Sino German government consultations with Premier Schultz tomorrow. We believe that with the joint efforts of both sides, a complete success will be achieved. China's development is an opportunity rather than a challenge, let alone a threat, for Germany. Cooperation rather than confrontation is necessary between China and Germany. China adheres to an independent foreign policy of peace and an open strategy of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. We are willing to uphold the principles of mutual respect, seeking common ground while reserving differences, exchanging and learning from each other, and working together with Germany to promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations. We will work together to support economic globalization, oppose "decoupling and disconnection", practice true multilateralism, maintain regional and world peace and stability, and inject more stability, certainty, and constructive energy into the world. Qin Gang compared the achievements of cooperation in the diplomatic field between the two countries with Burke, stating that the two foreign ministries will continue to play a coordinating role in bilateral relations, deepen exchanges and dialogues at all levels, strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, and cooperate to address global challenges such as climate change. Berbok expressed that the German side is willing to work together with the Chinese side to promote the positive results of Premier Li Qiang's visit and government consultations. The German side adheres to the One China policy and is willing to closely engage in exchanges and visits at all levels with China, deepen communication, enhance understanding, and strengthen cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, climate change response, green development, and humanities. Both sides also exchanged views on the crisis in Ukraine and agreed to continue communication. (New News Agency)
