"Industrialists' Forum 2023- Creating a New Era for Science and a New Chapter for Industry" was held in Hong Kong Science Park on August 8. This forum focuses on two major themes: smart manufacturing, health technology, and new industrialization. The attending guests explore from multiple perspectives how to develop advanced manufacturing industries to achieve "new industrialization" and promote Hong Kong's industry to go international. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said in his speech that leading innovation with science and promoting development with innovation would be an important driving force for economic development. The SAR government has funded the establishment of more intelligent production lines through the "Reindustrialization Assistance Program", with the number increasing from about 30 in the middle of last year to over 50 now. At the same time, efforts are being made to establish microelectronics research and development institutes and artificial intelligence supercomputing centers, providing more hardware support for high-tech core technologies in the future, and supporting more enterprises to shift towards intelligent production. The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the SAR Government, Sun Dong, stated that promoting "new industrialization" is the key to achieving high-quality development in Hong Kong, and technology empowerment is a prominent feature of "new industrialization". In the new era, innovative technology and industrial development are already inseparable. In the future, we will promote Hong Kong's "new industrialization" development in five major areas: talent, technology, financial support, promotion of scientific research, and infrastructure construction. Improving the innovation ecosystem and promoting Hong Kong's "new industrialization" is one of the four clear directions proposed in the "Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint" released on December 22, 2022. The Industrialists Forum, hosted by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, aims to provide an exchange and interaction platform for all sectors of society to support the upgrading and transformation of traditional industries through innovative technology, so that Hong Kong industry can usher in a new chapter in a new era of science and technology.
