Wang Yi Holds Phone Talks with French President's Foreign Affairs Advisor Bonaparte

2023-06-06

On June 5, 2023, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, had a phone conversation with French President Bonaparte as requested. Wang Yi stated that President Makron's visit to China in April was a complete success, and the two heads of state reached a series of strategic consensus. Both sides need to accelerate implementation, jointly advance the next important agenda, and demonstrate the high-level comprehensive strategic partnership between China and France. President Makron's recent important statement on international multilateral platforms reflects the independent and independent diplomatic tradition of France, and European countries are also more actively engaging in dialogue and contact with China. China appreciates this. I believe that the French side will continue to pursue a rational and proactive policy towards China, and play a constructive role in the healthy and stable development of China Europe relations. As the two major forces in the multipolarization process, China and the EU share much more common interests than differences. Both sides should focus more on cooperation and less on opponents, and work together to provide more stability for the world. The French side is willing to strengthen cooperation with China and contribute to the development of France China, Europe China relations, and international peace and stability. The French side believes that Europe should maintain unity, adhere to independence and autonomy, and establish a partnership of mutual respect and common prosperity with China. Both sides exchanged views on global challenges. The French side hopes that countries from the north and south of the world will strengthen cooperation and achieve more balanced and sustainable development. Wang Yi stated that China has always been an important member of the South and has always advocated for developed countries to support the development of southern countries through practical actions. Meanwhile, as the largest developing country, China insists on providing assistance to developing countries through South-South cooperation and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of southern countries. Both sides also coordinated their respective positions on the Ukrainian issue and agreed to continuously accumulate and create conditions for initiating the political settlement process.
