2023-06-05

A pair of beautifully sculpted "Chinese Dragon" sculptures and a giant painting with dragon patterns were unveiled on June 1st at the famous Place of the Pantheon in Paris, marking the beginning of the "Journey of the Dragon" large-scale art exhibition. The reporter saw on site that at noon that day, a giant painting of the "Journey of the Dragon" with a size of 1000 square meters and a pair of red origami shaped sculptures of the "Chinese Dragon" were laid out on the square in front of the Xianxian Temple. Tourists raised their phones to take photos, and many stopped to watch the introduction of the works. It is reported that from June 1st, the "Journey of the Dragon" large-scale art exhibition will be held in the Xianxian Temple Square for a week, followed by a tour to major cities in France. It is planned to be exhibited at the Yellow Flower City Water Great Wall in Beijing, China next year. This pair of origami shaped sculptures and giant paintings of the "Chinese Dragon" were created by French artist Gwendelin Finer de Vilaine. She introduced in an interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters that two origami shaped "Chinese Dragon" sculptures are made of materials such as polycarbonate, each 5 meters long and weighing 900 kilograms. She expressed a great liking for Chinese origami because children's origami games are filled with endless poetry and innocent childlike fun, which is the source of her inspiration. She said that next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and it is also the Year of the Dragon in China. Dragon carries the meaning of wisdom, power, and luck in Chinese culture. She hopes to take off with the colorful dragon she designed from the Pantheon in Paris, as a symbol of peace and friendship between China and France, and finally fly to China in 2024. The Pantheon is located in the Latin Quarter on the left bank of the Seine River in the center of Paris. It is a temple that permanently commemorates French historical figures and is also one of the landmarks of Paris. Chinese Ambassador to France Lu Shaye and other figures from the political, business, and artistic sectors of China and France were invited to participate in the event on that day.
