Being in a daze appropriately can help the body and mind

Have you recently browsed the popular search for a dazed area in Guangdong university libraries? In the public's impression, a serious and quiet library should be a good place to learn culture and absorb knowledge, while daze is always associated with negative vocabulary such as dullness, laziness, and emptiness. How can the two be related?! But looking beyond this event itself, 'daze' has long since become a well founded way of leisure. In fact, the recommended leisure method of being in a daze can be traced back to 2016- the "5125" Healthy Life Concept launched by the National Health and Family Planning Commission, where the first 5 minutes were spent in a daze every day. At that time, the "daze" became popular as a strange and unconventional form of leisure. Being in a daze is a wandering mindset with different orientations. Different people seem to have different definitions of being in a daze. Some people believe that being in a daze is letting go of their thoughts and not thinking about anything; Some people believe that being in a daze can also be a state of intense thought, similar to daydreaming or wandering. At the same time, the above advocated trance is self selected and does not include uncontrollable occurrences in life and work, which reduce efficiency. So, does the definition of being in a daze seem to be less than or equal to being distracted? Don't worry, let's take a turn and take a look at the field of psychology. Psychological term for mental wandering: When idle or completing a task, our consciousness unconsciously drifts into internal thoughts, imagination, or experiences unrelated to the present. And different distractions can be subdivided into: thoughts that automatically arise in daily life, known as daydreaming or spontaneous thinking, or distractions from current tasks, known as task independent thinking. In this way, regardless of the definition of being in a daze in your mind, it can be considered as a wandering mind with different orientation content. In the large circle designated by psychological experts for wandering mind, one can choose their own land and occupy the land as the king. Being in a daze can be seen as uncontrolled spontaneous activity in a resting state. Before answering this question, let's first understand the relationship between unconscious activity and resting state brain energy expenditure in psychological research. That is, unconscious activities (intrinsic activities) in the brain that are not detected during a resting state are still consuming a large amount of energy, and these activities continue to occur even during deep sleep, So the information processing of the brain is long-term and continuous. And being in a daze can be seen as an uncontrolled spontaneous activity in a resting state, similar to the unconscious activity mentioned above, which is a spontaneous information processing activity carried out by the brain. To exaggerate, when you realize that you are in a daze in your head, perhaps your unconscious activities are already in the clouds, causing a lot of trouble in the heavenly palace. From the perspective of mental wandering, relevant studies have shown that mental wandering is related to specific regions of the brain, with the most important being the default mode network. At the same time, it is also related to the integration of the hippocampus and the default network. It is a seemingly simple but actually complex problem that needs long-term exploration. In addition, some external environmental factors also affect the occurrence of mental wandering, such as age, fatigue level, emotional experience, state of consciousness, work pressure, proficiency, and so on. Moderate daydreaming can reduce anxiety and depression by 25% every day
