Situation education should closely follow the situation and not become a "formal" education

2023-05-24

At a certain parliamentary church, a political cadre bluntly stated, "If situation education does not keep up with the situation, it becomes a 'formal' education. This reminder is worth the attention of every educator. Regularly educating the military on the situation is a fine tradition of our military's political work and an important topic in the ideological and political work of the military. Whenever there are changes in the international and domestic situation and major policies are introduced, political cadres either take the podium or go deep into the officers and soldiers to explain the situation and policies face-to-face, building a "bridge" and "link" connecting grassroots officers and soldiers. The vast number of officers and soldiers, through this education, comprehensively and correctly view the situation, always maintain a clear mind and the correct direction, thereby providing a strong ideological guarantee for fulfilling their missions and tasks. During the Red Army period, when the company called the roll, it was necessary to first report political news. During the Jinggangshan Struggle, during the meetings of the Soldier Committee or branch, party representatives were required to make reports on the situation or current affairs. Whether in times of war or peace construction, it is precisely because the Party committees and leaders at all levels of the military attach great importance to this education that our army can unify its thinking and successfully complete various tasks. Situation education can only achieve effective results by closely following the situation. There is a situation education course in the political theory course of "Great Achievements Three Companies": "What Does Liaoning Ship Breakthrough the Island Chain Mean", with a high satisfaction rate of 96% among officers and soldiers. This class starts with the track of Liaoning ships crossing the East China Sea, leaving the island chain, circling Baodao, and entering the South China Sea, vividly presenting the leapfrog development of the People's Army in recent years to the officers and soldiers, and increasing their confidence; A certain naval department immediately conducted situational education with vivid examples of maritime rights protection, guiding officers and soldiers to see their missions and think about their responsibilities, effectively enhancing the sense of mission and urgency of all officers and soldiers loving the military's martial arts. However, in practical work, the phenomenon of "half speed" in situation education still exists to varying degrees in some units. Some political cadres rely on their superiors' educational outlines when carrying out education, and cannot timely supplement or update educational content; Some people have a partial understanding of current affairs and policies, and are satisfied with reciting documents and reading materials in class. They cannot effectively answer the questions of officers and soldiers, and find it difficult to resonate with them, and so on. In today's society, the media is developed, information transmission and knowledge updates are fast, and the knowledge level of officers and soldiers is not the same as in the past. It is difficult to do a good job in situation education. This requires political cadres at all levels to closely integrate with the development and changes of domestic and international situations, conduct serious investigations and research, clarify their ideological foundation, grasp practical problems, and guide their work according to the situation in their own units. They should answer the questions raised by officers and soldiers in theory and policy. On the other hand, it is necessary to highlight the main role of officers and soldiers in education, actively carry out mass analysis activities, guide officers and soldiers to share their own understanding and thinking, and truly understand the situation and major policies through mutual learning and assistance, fully unleashing the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of work. Comrade Mao Zedong once criticized the phenomenon of "not promoting the masses, not stirring up, not giving speeches, not investigating, not inquiring, not caring about their pain, and being indifferent to them". We should take this as a lesson. It should be noted that lively and convincing situation education is also a part of improving the Party's governance ability. To give the masses a bowl of water, one must have a bucket of water. May our cadres at all levels, especially leading cadres, actively pay attention to new situations
