Scientists have found decades ago that some AIDS patients can completely control AIDS without any drug help, but the reason has not been revealed. In a new study, American scientists found that an extremely powerful anti infection white blood cell CD8+T cell may play a key role. The research is published in the latest issue of the journal Science Immunology. Scientists from the Lagoon Research Institute in the United States pointed out that one in every 300 people can control AIDS without drugs. These people are called "spontaneous controllers". CD8+T cells are T cells that exist in everyone's immune system, but CD8+T cells in the body of "spontaneous controllers" seem to be better at recognizing and preventing AIDS virus. In the latest study, the team analyzed the blood samples and T cells of 7 people who were not infected with AIDS virus, 19 "spontaneous controllers", and 17 typical AIDS patients, of whom 17 patients with AIDS had their viral load controlled through antiretroviral therapy. The team found that CD8+T cells in the "spontaneous controller" were "rich and powerful", while in the AIDS patients receiving antiretroviral therapy, the number of CD8+T cells was small and the function was poor. The researchers said that for the "spontaneous controller", these enhanced T cells are curbing the AIDS virus and preventing it from causing damage.
