Promoting the Development and Growth of Integrated Medical and Nursing Services (People's Current Review)

2023-04-26

Not long ago, Liaoning Province proposed multiple specific measures to increase the supply of home medical services, strengthen community medical and elderly care integration services, and improve the level of medical and elderly care integration informatization. Previously, multiple provinces such as Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shaanxi have issued relevant implementation opinions on the integration of medical and elderly care. The specific measures taken by various regions to implement national requirements to promote the development of integrated medical and nursing services will further promote the development and growth of integrated medical and nursing services. As of the end of 2021, there are 78000 pairs of medical and health institutions and elderly care service institutions in China that have established signed cooperation relationships. There are 6492 medical and elderly care integration institutions with complete two certificates, with a total of 1.75 million beds. However, it should also be noted that the current population of disabled and semi disabled elderly in China is about 40 million, and there is an urgent need for services such as disability care, chronic disease management, and rehabilitation promotion. At present, the integrated medical and nursing services still face shortcomings such as insufficient total resources, weak home and community service capabilities, and lagging professional talent team construction, which require great efforts to make up for. Expand service supply and focus on home and community. At present, in the elderly care pattern in China, the vast majority of elderly people choose to live at home, while a portion of elderly people choose to live in communities, and only a small number of people are elderly in institutions. It can be seen that to solve the problem of insufficient resources for integrated medical and nursing care, the focus needs to be on developing home and community integrated medical and nursing services. We should encourage qualified medical institutions to provide home sick beds, home visits, and other medical services for elderly people at home, and better leverage the role of family doctor teams in signing contracts and providing services, so that elderly people can still see their patients without leaving their homes; Support community health service centers, township health centers, and community elderly care service institutions to renovate and expand a batch of community (township) medical and elderly care integrated service facilities in the community, so that elderly people can enjoy services even without leaving the community. Ensure service quality and focus on diversity of service types. For the integration of medical care and elderly care, elderly care is the foundation, and medical care is the support. Both are indispensable, and it is necessary to leverage their respective business expertise, carry out business cooperation, and achieve "I am in you, I am in you". Due to factors such as age and health, there are significant differences in the demand for integrated medical and elderly care services among the elderly population. Healthy elderly people have more needs for physical examination, health management, and spiritual culture; Elderly people who are semi self reliant in their daily lives are weak and sickly, and have a high demand for chronic disease management, medical treatment, medication, and daily care; Disabled and bedridden elderly people require home beds, long-term care, and on-site diagnosis and treatment services. Therefore, the integration of medical and nursing services should accurately meet different needs and provide differentiated services based on the characteristics of the elderly people they serve. Expand the talent team and enhance the professional level of practitioners. Professional talents directly determine the quality and supply of integrated medical and nursing services. At present, the lack of professional talents engaged in medical care for the elderly is a common problem faced by elderly care institutions and hospitals. We should encourage ordinary universities and vocational colleges to add health and elderly care related majors and courses, expand enrollment scale, and adapt to industry needs. Carry out medical care and rehabilitation activities
