The world's first megawatt level high-temperature superconducting induction heating device put into operation

2023-04-23

This megawatt level high-temperature superconducting induction heating device is processing an aluminum ingot weighing over 500 kilograms. In the past, heating from 20 ℃ to 403 ℃ took at least 9 hours. Now, by applying this device, it can be completed in just ten minutes. It is understood that high-temperature superconducting induction heating devices utilize the characteristics of superconductors that can achieve stable zero resistance superconducting states at low temperatures. They can not only be used for extrusion and forging of non ferromagnetic non-ferrous metal profiles such as aluminum and copper, but also for melting and high-end alloy heat treatment. Compared with the previously widely used resistance furnace, this device can double the energy efficiency conversion rate of traditional industrial frequency induction furnaces, save 50% energy, and reduce carbon emissions by more than half.
