Reporters learned from the Second Academy of Aerospace Science and Industry of China on April 19 that recently, the 25th Institute of the Second Academy of Aerospace Science and Industry in Beijing completed the first real-time wireless transmission and communication experiment of terahertz orbital angular momentum in China, using high-precision spiral phase plate antenna to achieve four different beam modes in the 110GHz frequency band, and completed 100Gbps wireless real-time transmission on the 10GHz transmission bandwidth through four mode synthesis, maximizing bandwidth utilization, Providing important guarantees and support for the development of 6G communication technology in China. Wireless backhaul technology is a key technology for connecting base stations and core network devices in mobile backhaul networks. With the continuous improvement of communication rate demand, the mobile communication frequency band has been expanded to millimeter wave and higher terahertz frequency bands, resulting in a significant increase in signal transmission loss and a doubling of base station deployment density. In the era of 5G/6G communication with highly dense base stations, traditional fiber-based bearer network transmission will face problems such as high cost, long deployment cycle, and poor flexibility. Wireless backhaul technology will gradually dominate. According to a research report, the proportion of global base stations using wireless backhaul will reach over 62% in 2023. According to a reporter from the Global Times, terahertz communication, as a new spectrum technology, can provide larger transmission bandwidth and meet the demand for higher transmission rates, gradually becoming one of the key technologies in 6G communication. Facing the future, the peak rate of 6G communication will reach 1Tbps, and it is necessary to further improve utilization under existing spectrum resources to achieve higher wireless transmission capabilities. Since 2021, the Institute has focused on the hot demand of 6G communication, followed the forefront of international communication technology, selected terahertz orbital angular momentum communication as a new breakthrough direction, realized multiplex signal transmission in terahertz frequency band, completed data transmission with super capacity, and increased the spectral utilization by more than twice. In the future, this technology can also serve the 10-1km short distance broadband transmission field, providing support for high-speed transmission between lunar exploration, fire detection lander and cruise, cable free bus transmission inside spacecraft and other aerospace applications, and providing information assurance capability for China's deep space exploration and research and development of new spacecraft.
