The latest vaccination plan of COVID-19 Vaccine is announced. Eligible people can be vaccinated after 3 months of infection

2023-04-11

Reporters learned from the National Health Commission on the 10th that the Comprehensive Group of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council had recently issued the Vaccination Work Plan for the Recent COVID-19 Infection Epidemic, making corresponding arrangements for the target population, time interval, vaccine selection, etc. The plan is clear, and the focus of vaccination at this stage is to fill the gap in immune levels among different target populations, further reducing the risk of severe illness and death. According to the plan, individuals who have not been infected and have not completed the established immunization program should complete subsequent doses of vaccine according to the established immunization program and its time interval requirements. This group of people includes those aged 3 to 17 who have not been infected and have not yet completed basic immunization, those aged 18 and above who have not been infected and have not yet completed the first dose of booster immunization, and those aged 18 and above who have not been infected and have not yet completed the second dose of booster immunization (high-risk population for infection, elderly people aged 60 and above, people with more severe basic diseases, and people with low immunity). Among them, for individuals aged 18 and above who have completed basic immunization, the interval between the first dose of booster immunization is adjusted to be at least 3 months. For individuals who have been infected and have not completed basic immunization, according to the plan, one dose of vaccine can be administered after 3 months of infection. Relevant experts from the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism Comprehensive Team of the State Council said that the current overall epidemic situation in the country is sporadic, but COVID-19 has not disappeared, and the spread of the virus in the population continues. With the changing situation of the epidemic, the need for vaccination at this stage should be determined based on factors such as infection status, previous vaccination history, age, and physical condition. It is reported that the protective antibodies obtained from vaccination and infection will decay over time. Globally, it is a consensus to vaccinate COVID-19 three months after infection, which is conducive to providing better protection for people with severe diseases and high risk of death in possible subsequent outbreaks. Several technical routes have been approved for the use of COVID-19 vaccines in China. The research results show that sequential immunity can provide more comprehensive protection for individuals.
