On April 8th, the 2022 China International Trade Association Annual Conference and International Trade Development Forum were held in Huangpu District, Guangzhou. Zhao Jinping, former Minister of the Department of Foreign Economic Research at the Development Research Center of the State Council, stated that the sustained growth of foreign trade has played an important role in promoting China's economic development. Zhao Jinping believes that in the new situation, China should transform from a trading power to a trading power by promoting institutional openness. He suggested deepening the pressure testing of free trade pilot zones, strengthening research guidance and policy support, expanding local reform authorization, enhancing policy implementation synergy, and improving the rule of law governance system to provide strong support for a higher level of institutional openness. Institutional openness is an important direction for China's future opening-up, "said Wang Huiyao, the chairman of the globalization think tank. China should actively align with international high-level free trade agreement rules, including the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement) and DEPA (Digital Economic Partnership Agreement), which is conducive to enhancing China's influence in global economic governance. He suggested that starting from aspects such as intellectual property protection, cross-border data flow, service trade, and talent flow, we should continuously improve the rules and regulations, and enhance the level of opening up to the outside world. Shen Minghao, Dean of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Research Institute at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, focused the discussion on the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. In his view, the advantages of the Greater Bay Area, such as its high degree of internationalization, superior resource allocation ability, strong industrial advantages and connection effects, provide a foundation for building a high-level open system. In the parallel sub forum segment, the participants had in-depth discussions on the six themes of "expanding high-level opening-up", "ensuring the stability of the industrial chain supply chain", "actively developing digital trade", "building a high-level open economy in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area", "the challenges and responses of China's foreign trade enterprises in multiple and complex environments", "international trade specialty construction and high-level talent training".
