Returning to 2020, Li Zesen decided to apply for the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University. This is not a temporary decision, Li Zesen's growth experience has made him curious about the mainland. Under his mother's guidance, he was able to speak fluent Mandarin from a young age; When he was young, his grandparents would take him to travel to the mainland; From elementary school to middle school, he witnessed Shenzhen's "ten thousand zhang tall buildings rising from the ground" across a river. To understand the motherland, one must personally go to the mainland to take a look. With a longing for the mainland, he came to Beijing to study. When he first arrived in Beijing, Li Zesen felt worried and afraid due to his unfamiliar environment and lack of friends, but the enthusiasm of his mainland classmates quickly dispelled his concerns. Once, my roommate discovered that Li Zesen couldn't ride a bike, so he took the initiative to teach him how to ride a bike. "It was a weekend, and I sat in front and stepped on it, while my roommate helped me ride at the back for almost two hours. Even now, I still feel very warm when I think of this matter," Li Zesen smiled. After experiencing the initial adaptation period, Li Zesen found that life in the mainland was "beyond imagination". Living in mainland China, all you need is a mobile phone, "Li Zesen said. Once, he wanted to eat mangoes at 1am, and after placing an online order, only half an hour later, the delivery man knocked on his door. He was deeply impressed by the developed digital economy and efficient delivery services in mainland China. As early as in Hong Kong, Li Zesen had heard of the Tsinghua University Symphony Orchestra. After arriving at Tsinghua, at the age of 4, he began learning violin and without hesitation chose to join the band. Here, Li Zesen played his first national symphony in life - "Ode to the Red Flag". From the moment I closed my eyes, the strings of the violin made the first sound, "I was shocked. It seemed like there was a scene of a hunting red flag fluttering in the wind before my eyes. Every note was full of heroic emotions, and every melody made people feel excited. Li Zesen recalled. This performance experience made him realize that music is a common language that can serve as a medium for youth communication between the two regions. He believes that if Hong Kong youth can hear these passionate and penetrating national music, they will definitely feel the national spirit behind the music, and perceive that Hong Kong and mainland China are originally of the same origin and have the same lineage. Afterwards, Li Zesen stepped onto more and larger stages. Playing "On the Fields of Hope" at the youth exchange event between China and Central and Eastern European countries, playing "Before" at the cultural performance of the overseas Chinese community in the capital, and playing "Me and My Motherland" at the New Tsinghua School... "Through playing, I will have a different feeling for the lyrics that mention 'a big river with wide waves and fragrant rice flowers on both sides'," said Li Zesen.
