Hong Kong Immigration Department: About 9.03 million people are expected to enter and leave Hong Kong during the Tomb Sweeping Day and Easter holidays

The Immigration Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government said on the 30th that during the Tomb Sweeping Day and Easter holidays (April 1-10) in 2023, it is estimated that about 9.03 million people will enter and leave Hong Kong through various sea, land, and air traffic control stations. Among them, nearly 83.5% of passengers (i.e. 7.54 million passengers) will enter and exit through various land border control stations. The Immigration Department estimates that during the holiday period, about 2.2 million people will enter and leave Hong Kong through the Lo Wu Control Station, or an average of about 220000 people per day. The Lok Ma Chau branch line and the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge control station will also be very busy, with an average daily passenger flow of approximately 147000 and 138000, respectively. According to the Hong Kong Tourism Development Board, in February 2023, there were approximately 1.46 million visitors to Hong Kong. This is the first time since February 2020 that the number of visitors to Hong Kong in a single month has exceeded one million. (Liao Xinshe)
