According to Reuters on the 29th, more than 1000 industry executives and experts, including Musk and Apple co founder Steve Wozniak, signed an open letter calling for the suspension of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) development within six months. In their letter, they elaborated on the potential risks that highly competitive AI systems may pose to society and civilization, including economic and political aspects, and called on developers to work with policymakers to develop governance and regulatory regulations. This letter calls for an immediate suspension of training for at least six months in all AI laboratories. "We should only develop strong AI systems if we are confident that their effects are positive and the risks are controllable," the letter said. It is understood that the CEO of OpenAI, the research and development company of ChatGPT, did not sign this letter. According to the latest report released by Goldman Sachs Group, an investment bank, artificial intelligence may replace 300 million full-time jobs and have different impacts on different industries. For example, 46% of administrative work and 44% of legal work can be automated, compared to only 6% and 4% in the construction and maintenance industries. The report concludes that, compared to previous advances in information technology, generative artificial intelligence can quickly take over a large number of jobs. (Liao Xinshe)
