Wang Wenbin said that the 38th joint working group meeting on the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea was successfully held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from March 8 to 10. At the meeting, China and ASEAN countries continued to promote consultations on the text of the "Code of Conduct for the South China Sea", and exchanged in-depth views on the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea and practical cooperation at sea. All parties agreed to hold multiple practical cooperation projects in the fields of marine scientific research, marine environmental protection, maritime search and rescue, to strengthen dialogue and communication, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea. Wang Wenbin said that the parties have also agreed on a work plan for this year. During the year, several rounds of senior officials' meetings and joint working group meetings will be held to implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, so as to promote greater progress in the "guidelines" consultation.
