The Office of the Chief Information Technology Officer (ITO) of the Hong Kong SAR Government announced today (March 14) that the "Hong Kong Health Code" system has ceased to operate with the full clearance of Hong Kong and the Mainland. The Information Technology Office said that it had completed the process of deleting all user data on the system, including the travel records uploaded by each user through the "Comfort Travel" APP, and had been deleted within 60 days after uploading as required. All operations are in strict compliance with the relevant requirements under the Hong Kong Privacy Ordinance. It is understood that the "Hong Kong Health Code" is an online system launched by the SAR Government in December 2021 to assist qualified persons to transmit personal data (such as negative nucleic acid test results, vaccination records, etc.) to the "Guangdong Provincial Affairs" Guangdong Health Code or Macao Health Code system for health declaration in Guangdong Province or Macao.
