2023-02-22

According to the Hong Kong "Point News" report, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Chen Maobo, released the latest financial budget on the 22nd. Chen Maobo said that Hong Kong's economy is expected to rebound significantly this year, with real growth of 3.5% to 5.5% for the whole year. On February 22, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chen Maobo, announced the 2023/2024 fiscal budget of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Chen Maobo pointed out that in terms of price, the local cost pressure will rise with the economic recovery, while the external price pressure will be eased slightly this year, but it is still quite significant. Based on various factors, it is predicted that the basic inflation rate and the overall inflation rate will accelerate to 2.5% and 2.9% respectively this year. The picture shows that Hong Kong is gradually returning to normal, with passengers enjoying themselves in Tsim Sha Tsui. He continued to point out that taking a comprehensive view of various factors and taking into account that in the future, economic activities will continue to recover from the epidemic and achieve catch-up growth, it is predicted that Hong Kong's economy will increase by 3.7% per year in real terms on average between 2024 and 2027. The basic inflation rate is expected to be 2.5% per year on average. Chen Maobo also mentioned that under the further weakening of the growth momentum of advanced economies, Hong Kong's goods exports will still face serious challenges this year. However, the accelerated economic growth in the mainland and the lifting of restrictions on cross-border land freight should alleviate some of the pressure. As for the export of services, the SAR government has cancelled the quarantine arrangements for inbound people, and the number of visitors to Hong Kong is expected to rise strongly with the full clearance of Hong Kong and the mainland.
