A few days ago, the reporter learned from the Secretariat of Iran's Supreme Council of Education that Iran will add foreign language courses such as Chinese to secondary education from 2024. The Supreme Council of Iran's National Education is the authority responsible for the formulation of Iran's national education plans and policies. According to the secretariat of the committee, from 2024, there will be six foreign languages for Iranian middle school students to choose from, namely Chinese, English, French, Russian, Arabic and German. The specific syllabus and plan are being formulated. At present, only English and French are available in Iran's secondary education. According to the Iranian Student News Agency, Iran's Minister of Education Nuri said recently that with China's increasing global influence and the in-depth development of Iran-China relations, the upsurge of learning Chinese will be further set off. From 2024, the Chinese curriculum will be included in Iran's national basic education system to meet the needs of Iranian students for learning Chinese. It is reported that since Shahid Bekhshiti University of Iran took the lead in opening the Chinese major in 1997, four Iranian universities including Tehran University have opened the Chinese major.
