Hong Kong Polytechnic University established "China History and Culture Research Center" to promote Chinese culture

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKUST) held the founding ceremony of the "China History and Culture Research Center" on its campus on the 17th, and signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Institute of Thought and Culture of Tsinghua University to further promote Chinese culture and strengthen the national education in Hong Kong. It is reported that the newly established China History and Culture Research Center will support Hong Kong to develop into a Sino-foreign cultural and art exchange center, and help young people in Hong Kong to understand Chinese history and culture and integrate into the overall development of the country. The center will focus on modern Chinese history and Chinese society and culture, and promote the education of Chinese history and culture. The work in the first stage includes cooperation with Tsinghua University and other universities in interdisciplinary research, academic lectures and student summer camps. Representatives of Polytechnic University and Tsinghua University signed a memorandum of cooperation online and offline on the same day. According to the memorandum, the two sides will cooperate to compile Chinese history textbooks and train teachers for the Hong Kong education community, and cultivate a new generation of patriotic, world-wide vision and ambitious people. In his speech at the scene, the President of the Polytechnic University Board of Trustees, David Lam, said that the establishment of the China History and Culture Research Center would help enhance the national pride, national identity and sense of belonging to the country of Hong Kong teenagers. Peng Gang, the vice president of Tsinghua University, said in a video speech that in the future, the Institute of Thought and Culture of Tsinghua University and the University of Science and Technology could carry out cooperation in various aspects, organize diversified academic activities, and jointly compile textbooks and editorial publications to strengthen exchanges between the two sides.
