Recently, the Work Plan for Strengthening the Prevention and Control of novel coronavirus Infection in Rural Areas (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") was issued, which provides scientific guidance for rural areas to respond to the epidemic prevention and control challenges brought about by population mobility at the end of the year and the beginning. As the epidemic situation changes, many people plan to go home for the New Year, and the peak situation of returning home from cities may occur. Rural areas are vast, with a large and dispersed population and limited per capita medical resources. How to deal with various known and unknown risks has become a huge challenge. Because of this, the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council and the central rural work leading group jointly issued a document to make targeted arrangements on improving the grass-roots epidemic prevention and control system, ensuring the supply of medical materials in rural areas, improving the level of critical care, strengthening the protection of key rural populations, and promoting agricultural production and supply stability as a whole. This is a scientific deployment made according to the time and situation, and all regions should speed up implementation in light of local realities. We should do a good job in rural epidemic prevention and control, and deal with potential risks and challenges. We should not be too frightened, confused, or careless. At present, many rural areas have experienced a round of virus infection, and some people think that "positive" is all right. They are not subjective enough to estimate the possible emergencies, and have a fluke mentality. This mentality is bound to affect the work deployment of rural epidemic prevention and control, making it difficult to effectively strengthen the weak links. The prevention and control of epidemic situation in rural areas should be carried out steadily and step by step. At present, our understanding of COVID-19 is still limited. Seizing the time window and making full preparations is an objective requirement for scientific response to the epidemic.
