On December 27, the "Zhonghua" thermophysical test device, a major national scientific and technological infrastructure during the "14th Five Year Plan" period, held a project construction promotion meeting in Qingdao West Coast New Area, and the project officially started construction. The "Zhonghua" thermophysical test device is the first major national science and technology infrastructure project of the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan", which was approved by the state and started construction. It is reported that the "Zhonghua" thermophysical test device is mainly used to carry out basic theoretical and experimental research on engineering thermodynamics and cycle system, aerothermodynamics, combustion, heat and mass transfer and other thermophysical disciplines and their interdisciplinary disciplines under complex and variable conditions for aspirated engines. The project is located in the core area of Guzhenkou, Qingdao West Coast New Area, with a total investment of about 2.92 billion yuan. The construction unit is the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The construction and operation of the "Zhonghua" thermophysical test device will effectively support the improvement of the existing air breathing engine design system and the establishment of the future new principle air breathing engine design system, and provide a solid condition support for the independent innovation and development of China's advanced air breathing engines. In 2021, with the active efforts of Shandong Province and Qingdao City, the "Zhonghua" thermophysical test device will be successfully incorporated into the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" national major scientific and technological infrastructure, and will be located in Qingdao West Coast New Area. Since 2022, the preliminary procedures for the "Zhonghua" thermophysical test device have been expedited, and the feasibility study report, preliminary design and budget estimate have been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. In the next step, Qingdao and the West Coast New Area will continue to improve their service efficiency and promote the early completion, operation and effectiveness of the "Zhonghua" thermophysical test device.
