It is designed by the 708 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Group and built by China Shipbuilding Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The designed displacement is 42000 tons. It has the ability to operate in an unlimited navigation area in the global sea area and to drill more than 10000 meters in the sea area. Ocean drilling ships are planned to be equipped with 10 categories of advanced shipborne equipment to form nine laboratories covering all fields of marine research, and for the first time, they will be equipped with international first-class paleomagnetic and ultra clean laboratories. The overall equipment and comprehensive operation capacity are at the international leading level. As a "national important tool" to support the construction of a maritime power, the design and construction of ocean drilling vessels have focused on solving major resource and environmental science problems in the deep earth, and formed a cooperative combat situation and a deep-sea scientific and technological innovation system; Through the joint efforts of more than 150 units at home and abroad, 56 key technologies have been tackled, more than 10 key technologies such as comprehensive optimization of hydrodynamic performance and module layout of operating system have been broken through, and eight types of operating systems such as two control systems and core collection have been innovatively integrated, as well as drilling and production systems composed of more than 30 subsystems; It has two major operation modes of oil and gas drilling and ocean scientific drilling, as well as riser and riser free drilling.
