The reporter learned from CNNC that the world's first onshore commercial modular small reactor "Linglong No.1" nuclear island installation project in Changjiang, Hainan has officially started recently. "Linglong No.1" is a multi-functional modular small pressurized water reactor developed by CNNC and with independent intellectual property rights. It is also the first onshore commercial modular small reactor in the world. The project to be implemented this time is the installation sub item of the pipe supports and hangers in the reactor building, which is the infrastructure connecting the nuclear island and the conventional island. The nuclear island that started the installation project is the key of the whole nuclear power plant. Later, the pressure vessels, steam generators and other major equipment of the nuclear power plant will be installed in the nuclear island. The "Linglong No.1" demonstration project will be commenced on July 13, 2021, with a total planned duration of 58 months. The "Linglong No.1" nuclear island installation project of the world's first reactor was officially started, 75 days ahead of the milestone node, which also marks that China has taken the lead in modular small reactor technology in the world. The small reactor has the characteristics of high safety, short construction period, flexible deployment, etc. It can be used as a distributed energy source to supply power for Aziz desalination, regional heating, industrial heating and other purposes. The power of each "Linglong No.1" unit is 125000 kilowatts, and the annual power generation after completion can reach 1 billion kilowatt hours.
