(Picture: The 2010 Shanghai World Expo was a wonderful and unforgettable success, creating unlimited opportunities for development.) The representative work of Czech composer Dvorak, "Symphony No. 9 in E minor: From the New World", and the fourth movement is famous for its magnificent melody. The International Bureau of Exhibitions, the international organization that manages and coordinates the World Expo, selected the most exciting part of this movement as the "Bureau Music of International Exhibitions". This magnificent momentum is also a true portrayal of the road to the Shanghai World Expo. Twelve years ago, as promised, Shanghai brought a successful, wonderful and unforgettable World Expo to the world, and its far-reaching impact has never stopped. Therefore, recently, some experts suggested that Hong Kong and Shenzhen jointly bid to host the 2035 World Expo, which was also supported and expected by all parties. In an exclusive interview with reporters, Zhou Hanmin, the current vice-chairman of the Central Committee of Civil Construction and the vice-chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a participant in the whole process of applying for, preparing for and running the Expo in Shanghai, combined with the experience of Shanghai, said that Hong Kong and Shenzhen would jointly apply for and run the Expo. If all the objective conditions are met and become reality, this will be another important initiative of China. It will not only fully demonstrate the concept of "one country, two systems", but also bring long-term impetus to the development of the Greater Bay Area and even China Zhang Fan, a reporter from Ta Kung Pao, mentioned the World Expo. The Shanghai World Expo people will never forget the famous words of Mr. Wang Daohan, the old mayor: "The World Expo is different from the Canton Fair. The Canton Fair is tactical, which governs one year; the World Expo is strategic, which governs 50 years." Mr. Wang is the first advocate of Shanghai's bid for the Expo. Zhou Hanmin, who has been taught by Mr. Wang to enhance international influence, told reporters that Shanghai's vision of applying for the Expo can be traced back to the 1980s. In 1984, Taiichi Sakai, the initiator of the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, and Kobayashi, a Japanese expert, visited Mayor Wang Daohan and proposed that Shanghai bid to host the World Expo, which is now known as the World Expo. They believe that this will play an important role in urban development and international influence. Wang Daohan attached great importance to this proposal. Mr. Wang also believed that the World Expo could become a booster for Pudong's development. Of course, Shanghai did not have all the necessary conditions at that time, but Mayor Wang decided to organize forces to study the historical development of the World Expo and make a comparative study of some important countries and cities before and after the Expo. Shanghai's understanding of the World Expo is not limited to theory. Wang Daohan has visited Japan three times and made a special investigation on the role of the World Expo in the country's economy. During the 15 years from 1970 to 1985, Japan has hosted three World Expositions, including the 1970 Osaka World Expo, which made a direct profit of 150 million US dollars. In addition to the 1968 Tokyo Olympic Games, the hosting of these two major international events accelerated the infrastructure construction in Tokyo and Osaka. Shinkansen and expressways were built in the 1960s. During the 10 years from 1961 to 1970, Japan's economy grew by 11.6% annually. The economy of the whole Kansai region has been boosted. This is undoubtedly a great inspiration to the developing Shanghai. It was the initiative of Mr. Wang and the unremitting efforts of the leaders of Shanghai. After more than ten years of efforts, China formally applied to host the Shanghai World Expo in 1999 with the approval of the State Council. May 2, 2001
