According to the Japan Times on the 6th, Rosen, a large Japanese convenience store chain, launched an artificial intelligence system to provide advice on product management for all its stores. The artificial intelligence system can integrate the sales volume, trading time and local weather conditions of the store to calculate the matching price reduction range for promotion. Previously, the price decline of fresh food in each store generally depended on the experience of the store manager, but manual judgment may lead to waste of inventory. The new AI system can review about 270 in store products 4 times a day, effectively avoiding waste. The application of this artificial intelligence system is very effective. In 2021, the average gross profit of Rosen pilot stores will increase by 0.6% and the waste cost will decrease by 2.5%. Rosen Group plans to comprehensively promote it in Japan from the 2023 fiscal year. Another large Japanese supermarket chain, Aeon Retail, has developed an AI discount system, which can reasonably price the products in the store by analyzing the sales performance of each store. A person in charge of the retail business of Aeon said that the fresh food that could not be sold before would be given an ultra-low discount before the end of the day's business, and the new system effectively avoided these losses.
