Qingmao Port of Guangdong Australia New Channel: Open the Guangdong Macao integration road and build a double city bridge

2022-10-09

In early autumn, Gongbei, Zhuhai, is very busy with clear sky and busy traffic. The hot land connected with Macao by land, Gongbei Port, the land port with the largest customs clearance flow in China, gathers a wealth of people, logistics, capital and information flows. Now, Qingmao Port, a new Guangdong Australia channel, is radiating new vitality. On September 8, 2021, about 800 meters away from Zhuhai Gongbei Port, a large land port with the highest degree of electronics and intelligence in China will be officially opened. On the day of opening, the Qingmao Port of the Guangdong Macao New Channel has attracted many passengers to wait at the gate early. They have crossed Macao and Zhuhai in just seconds. Over the past year, this new channel has released more than ten million passengers, effectively relieving the pressure of customs clearance at Gongbei Port, improving the efficiency of customs clearance at Zhuhai Macao Port, becoming one of the busiest ports in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and bringing the distance between Guangdong and Macao closer. The intelligent clearance distance is calculated in "seconds" on the Yayong River adjacent to Gongbei in Zhuhai and Qingzhou in Macao. Qingmao Port is built across Guangdong and Macao, with a total floor area of about 167000 square meters. The modern architectural style echoes many commercial buildings in Gongbei and the urban landscape of northern Macao. This is the sixth tourist inspection port and the third 24-hour customs clearance port between Zhuhai and Macao. Intelligent customs clearance is a highlight of Qingmao Port. Therefore, it also allows passengers to have a faster experience. Qingmao Port has designed a daily customs clearance of 200000 person times, with 100 cooperative quick inspection channels and 12 traditional manual inspection channels. As a self-service pedestrian passage port, the joint inspection building between Guangdong and Macao adopts the joint seamless docking design. Under the new inspection mode of "cooperative inspection, one-time release", passengers can pass the customs in 20 seconds at the earliest, so that the distance between Guangdong and Macao is calculated in "seconds". Customs clearance is easier, but construction is not. At the beginning of the construction of the new channel, the governments of Guangdong and Macao jointly established a working group for the Guangdong Australia New Channel Project, established a working mechanism for multi sectoral cooperation, and explored a management mode of "one system, dual supervision" during the construction process to overcome cross-border construction problems and work overtime to promote port construction. "The demand for convenient customs clearance of residents in both places is one of the first considerations for port location." Zhou Huifeng, general manager of Nanyue Investment Management Co., Ltd., the contractor of Qingmao Port, introduced that the port is located on the narrow border between Zhuhai and Macao, making cross-border construction difficult. Under repeated trial and error and debugging, Zhuhai and Macao further optimized and upgraded the hardware and software inspection equipment of Qingmao Port to ensure the smooth opening of Qingmao Port. In addition, the port management, customs and other departments of the two cities have also innovated ways and means of supervision and service. The infrared thermometer and other intelligent customs supervision equipment equipped at Qingmao Port are now successfully put into use, providing passengers with a more efficient and convenient customs clearance experience. This year, Qingmao Port ushered in the first anniversary of its opening and also welcomed the 10th million passengers. This year, Qingmao Port became the second port in China in terms of inspection and clearance volume, which not only provided a new channel for residents' exchanges between the two places, but also provided new impetus for improving the connectivity between Guangdong and Macao and promoting the integration and development of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. One year since Qingmao Port was opened,
