The 7th Beijing October Literature Month was launched

2022-09-28

From Yousheng Temple, the headquarters of the October Literature Institute, to Mei Lanfang Grand Theater, and then to the Beijing Flyover Art Center, the venue for the opening ceremony of Beijing October Literature Month is becoming larger and larger, and more and more literary and cultural friends are gathered. As a brand literature activity sponsored by the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, supported by the China Writers Association, the China Book Review Society, and undertaken by the Beijing Publishing Group, the 7th Beijing October Literature Month, with the theme of "New Era of Literature · New Epic of the People", has devoted a wonderful literary feast to Beijing, the country and overseas literature lovers through nearly 100 high-quality literature activities since the beginning of September. On September 22, the launch site of this October Literature Month in Beijing welcomed Wang Meng, the people's artist. Although he is an octogenarian, he has always been concerned about the growth of young writers, and donated his own contributions to support literary newcomers. The "Wang Meng Young Writer Support Plan" came into being. The plan selects 2 to 3 young writers under the age of 40 who have published or published important works in the past year as "special writers of the year" to support. Sun Pin, Du Lan and Zheng Zaihuan were selected as the first writers (2021-2022). Taking over the certificates and trophies of selected writers from Wang Meng and Tie Ning, Zheng Zaihuan, a young writer, was very excited: "I always believe that literature is brilliant and telling is powerful. I will continue to write and tell stories worth telling to more readers - for the changes that literature brings, big or small, and for bringing warmth and brightness to more people." As the national cultural center, Beijing's literary creation has always been leading the trend and new. A large number of writers and works are shining, shining in the Chinese literary world at different times. How to shape the image of Beijing in the new era is the core topic of the "New Era, New Beijing, New Literature" Beijing Literature Summit Forum of this October Literature Month. At the forum activity on September 21, many experts and scholars, young writers and young critics gathered together. Zhang Qinghua, a professor of Beijing Normal University, noticed that in the writing of Beijing in the new era, there are more and more writings that consciously focus on Beijing's history and culture, and the experience of contemporary reform and development. At the same time, the focus on major themes is strong, and a group of young writers who consciously take the writing of Beijing in the new era as their own responsibility are thriving. In particular, the writing of a large number of "post-90s" young writers who have just stepped out of the university gate shows the characteristics of singularity and diversity, which adds new elements to the story of Beijing in the new era. Ge Fei, a professor at Tsinghua University, believes that it is a writer's job to make familiar things strange again. Beijing writing in the new era should re stimulate the huge power inherent in verbs, nouns and adjectives through literary description, rather than make them conceptualized. "This is a new challenge and a new task for writers in terms of techniques, techniques and narration." Li Tang, a young writer of the post-90s generation, is a native of Beijing. He started from the Jinsong area where he lives, explored the past and present life here, and wrote a novel "Shangjing" set on the eve of the May 4th Movement in 1918. Li Tang said, "In 2019, I tried to write about Beijing for the first time, because I didn't find the starting point of writing before. Writers all know that Beijing is a calendar
