This is one of the seven major actions that China will take to implement the 2030 Agenda. "Sustainable Development Science Satellite 1" (SDGSAT-1) is the world's first scientific satellite dedicated to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It was specially developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the leadership of the "Earth Big Data Science Project" and is the first star planned by the International Research Center for Sustainable Development Big Data. The satellite aims to detect land, ocean and other surface parameters closely related to human activities, monitor the interaction between human activities and the natural environment, provide dynamic, multi-scale and periodic information for the implementation of sustainable development goals, and serve the monitoring, evaluation and scientific research of global sustainable development goals. SDGSAT-1 satellite is designed as a sun synchronous orbit, and is equipped with three kinds of loads, including high-resolution wide-band thermal infrared, low light level and multispectral imager. The orbit height is 505km, the inclination is 97.5 °, the width is 300km, and the revisit period is about 11 days. It can achieve all-weather, multi load cooperative detection. SDGSAT-1 satellite has adopted a number of advanced technologies, the world's first color low light level design, and the detection ability of 10 meter panchromatic and 40 meter color spatial resolution, which can provide high-quality data support for accurate assessment of human settlements and economic and social indicators; The all optical path low temperature design ensures that the thermal infrared imager can detect the 0.2 ° C temperature change on the surface with a spatial resolution of 30 meters, and accurately plot the surface energy distribution; The multispectral imager is set with two dark blue bands and one red edge band, which can accurately detect the changes in water quality of different water bodies and vegetation growth. In July 2022, SDGSAT-1 satellite successfully completed the 6-month in orbit test task and turned to the operation phase. In August 2022, the global coverage of satellite data and the statistical results of data volume show that the thermal infrared, low light level and multi spectral sensors have acquired and processed into Level 4 products, reaching 33338 scenes. In September 2022, the SDGSAT-1 Open Science Program (www.sdgsat. ac.cn) will be launched. Satellite data will be open and shared globally, which will make a unique contribution to the international community, especially developing countries, in carrying out scientific research on sustainable development goals and implementing the UN 2030 Agenda.
