Huawei talks about 5.5G: the only way to enter the intelligent era

2022-09-22

Wang Tao, Huawei's managing director and director of the ICT Infrastructure Business Management Committee, said on the 21st that the 5.5G era is the only way to move towards an intelligent world when he elaborated on the "5.5G" at the Huawei Full Connectivity Conference 2022. On the same day, Huawei released a series of white papers entitled "Towards an Intelligent World" and proposed that the industry take eight measures to accelerate the arrival of the 5.5G era. Moving towards the future intelligent world, individuals, families and industries have put forward higher requirements for digital infrastructure. For individuals, with the gradual maturity of immersive services such as XR and holographic communication, the connection experience has moved from gigabit 1Gbps to 10 gigabit 10Gbps, and higher requirements have been put forward for delay and ubiquitous connection; For families, holographic teaching, holographic conference, 24K, 3D, VR games and other businesses have gradually developed, driving families into the all-optical 10G era; For the industry, intelligent manufacturing, power dispatching and other industrial applications, new diversified demands are put forward for the quantity, quality and perception of connections, which also lead to explosive growth in demand for computing power and storage power. Wang Tao said that in response to the need to move towards an intelligent world, 5.5G can achieve ubiquitous 10Gbps experience, intelligent computing and high-quality scheduling, highly autonomous L4 network, 10 times more effective computing power, 10 times more storage performance, cloud native 2.0 enterprise cloud service experience and 10 times more energy efficiency of infrastructure. Hu Houkun, Huawei's rotating chairman, said on the 19th that Huawei was working with industry partners to promote 5.5G technology, which is the next evolution direction of 5G, covering both fixed and wireless fields. Huawei's goal is to greatly increase the network capacity, ensure the ubiquitous 10Gbps/s rate, and meet the low latency requirements of the industry. (Liu Xinshe)
