Wang Anyi: look at yourself

Under her eyes, I saw her eyes glittering, and I also saw the quilt with white lilies on the jujube red background. " Lily quilt as a clue runs through the full text, which has infinite meaning. Therefore, I was very excited to hear that I had the opportunity to interview two literary masters. Mr. Wuqiang's interview seemed to be conducted in the writers' Association, while Ms. ruzhijuan's interview was about going to her home in "Yugu estate". "Yugu estate" is a new lane between Yuyuan Road and Nanjing West Road. There are rows of houses in the alley. Wang Anyi later recalled the "Yugu estate": "Yugu estate" road leads to Yuyuan Road and Nanjing Road. The markets at both ends are quiet in the midst of chaos. They meditate in the world, which is in line with the humanistic feelings of their parents' intellectuals. Their late life thus adds warmth. It is a blessed place for the market. " However, what was involved in that interview was completely forgotten. It was just such a close contact with a great writer. For a college student, it still brought a spiritual shock. Later, when I met Wang Anyi, I often talked about the only interview with her mother. Ru Zhijuan found her daughter's observation and narrative ability by virtue of her keen literary sense According to the inherent way of thinking, people always think that Wang Anyi's literary talent comes from the careful cultivation of his mother Ru Zhijuan, However, Ms. ruzhijuan said in the article "talking about Wang Anyi": "When children were young, I gave them something invisible and untouchable besides food and clothing. I think it is necessary to mention this when the value of 'material benefits' is prevailing. I gave them some emotional and literary edification. When children were young, they recited some Tang and Song poems, first of all, and then let them understand the artistic conception of the poems..." as a mother, Ms. ruzhijuan has never deliberately trained her children in a specific direction, or even discouraged them from engaging in literary and artistic work. Although her mother disapproved of her daughter's literature and art, everything was like fate. Wang Anyi's life path eventually approached literature step by step. At the age of 16, Wang Anyi left Shanghai and went to the rural areas of Huaibei, Anhui Province. In that period when both material conditions and spiritual life were extremely poor, his literary talent began to show. Due to the fear that her daughter is in a foreign land and is lonely, and she is also on the edge, so mother and daughter meet to find fun in life through fish and wild geese. The daughter's letter is only a trivial matter for ordinary people around her, but the mother found her daughter's observation and narrative ability by virtue of her keen literary sense. Ms. ruzhijuan said, Daughter Wang Anyi "She wrote about her work, life, environment, the little sisters in the countryside, the elders and aunts, their love for themselves and their disputes. I found that these ordinary life scenes written were vivid and friendly, just like seeing people and hearing their voices. They made people unforgettable after reading them. I still remember some of the things she wrote. For example, after they came home from work, their rural life was lonely and rigid. Once they heard that there were People quarreled, so they dropped the bucket when they were carrying water and the kitchen knife when they were cutting vegetables. As a result, when they stopped quarreling, they sighed and went back to the house to cook. One spring, she wrote a letter saying that the villagers said that the swallows would not make their nests. The family must be wicked and unlucky, and the house she lived in was still empty on the beam. A few days later, she wrote and reported that as soon as I opened my eyes this morning, I saw swallows on the beam making their nests. She wrote some trivial things, but from these trivial things, I learned that her life, her thoughts and feelings, and even her image can be felt through the paper. A few years later, Wang Anyi returned to Shanghai, worked as an editor of children's time magazine, and officially started her writing life. However, her mother Ru Zhijuan still adhered to the principle of "leaving her alone, letting her explore and walk" and allowed her daughter to gallop on the road of literature. Wang Anyi told me that as the number of her works increased, her mother did not even look at her works, let alone give specific advice. Ms. ruzhijuan is also quite proud, thinking that such "letting go" has prompted "Wang Anyi to quickly form a way of expression in her creation. If I have any role in her growth, I am afraid it will be a credit". ChenDanQing was in tears when she read Wang Anyi's book in the subway In 1983, Wang Anyi and her mother ruzhijuan traveled across the ocean to participate in the "international writing program" of the University of Iowa. This program was co founded by niehualing, a Chinese American female writer. Every year, writers from all over the world are invited to come together to exchange and write. Bai Xianyong, linhuaimin, Yu Guangzhong, wuzuguang, Wang Meng, Mo Yan, Zheng Chouyu and other writers from both sides of the Taiwan Straits have successively participated in the event. Niehualing recalled the party that year in her article "walking alone - chenyingzhen": "That year was the most interesting gathering of Chinese writers in Iowa. Wu Zuguang was humorous. Ru Zhijuan was resolute. Wang Anyi was sharp and had her own unique views on people and things. She was the most attractive. She wore two pigtails. Mingli was a little shy and occasionally came up with a sharp remark, which was more critical. She was particularly interested in new things and had more activities than other Chinese writers." This "Iowa" experience had an important impact on Wang Anyi's writing, especially Taiwan, China writer chenyingzhen who visited "Iowa" and artist ChenDanQing who lived in New York. I once asked Wang Anyi why Chen Yingzhen had such a strong impact on her spiritual growth and literary development, and even lamented in the article "I have never caught up with him, but he has been left behind by the times". Wang Anyi said, "we just broke away from the fate of educated youth. Our hearts are full of anger and we want to make fierce criticism of that era. However, chenyingzhen believes that compared with the tragic fate of writers from other countries who came to Iowa, the hardships I suffered are not worth mentioning." Although they have different ideas and argue endlessly, However, it can be seen from niehualing's article that Chen Yingzhen cast a green eye on Wang Anyi: "among mainland writers, he was the most concerned, curious and appreciative about the young Wang Anyi. At that time, the works of mainland writers could not be published in Taiwan. He read several books she gave him at one go in Iowa. In 1984, he published Wang Anyi's the end of this train in Wenji in Taiwan It may be the first time Taiwan has published the works of mainland writers. He believes that 'as a writer of the younger generation, her focus and emotions are obviously focused on the experiences and feelings of the younger generation. Although the criticisms she reveals in her works are not as profound as those of the younger generation of mainland philosophers, the questions she raises are as touching as Wang Anyi's seriousness and honesty. " As for ChenDanQing, his loneliness and depression during his stay in New York won Wang Anyi's respect. Wanganyi remembers that ChenDanQing was in the subway reading the two collections of novels that Wang Anyi gave him, and tears were streaming down his face. "Others are busy identifying with the west, but he is identifying with China," Wang said. ChenDanQing recalled that Wang Anyi's "the end of this train" had moved him: "I was very happy to see a contemporary write about our own life for the first time. I remember at the end of the novel that the protagonist was bitter after returning to the city, went to the crowd of people on the Bund, and his family went to find him back. This feeling was very right. I was unhappy when I was a child, so I went to the Bund." After reading the novel "the sixth and ninth junior high school students" presented by Wang Anyi, ChenDanQing also discussed his reading feelings with Wang Anyi in a communication, put forward his personal opinions, and made a serious decision that "the sixth and ninth junior high school students" can only be regarded as a very long novel, not a real "novel". However, in any case, Wang Anyi always valued the dialogue with ChenDanQing. Sometimes she would inevitably get angry and have differences. However, she would reach a certain point of agreement. Therefore, Wang Anyi called ChenDanQing his "thought companion". Mo Yan told Wang Anyi how wonderful it would be if we both won the prize at the same time! Speaking of Wang Anyi's literary creation, xiaobaozhuang cannot be bypassed. "Xiaobaozhuang" and Mo Yan's "transparent carrot" were published in the same issue of literary journals and attracted readers' attention. As a realist writer, Wang Anyi once joked about why he had to "carrot" and "red potato". When this remark reached Mo Yan's ears, Mo Yan naturally had mixed feelings. So he had a slight prejudice against Wang Anyi at first. However, their persistent pursuit of literature made them more harmonious. Wang Anyi said that she and Mo Yan were both invited to visit Sweden. During the trip, they visited the Swedish Academy of literature together. "Mo Yan was very honest and asked, 'is it possible for two people to win the Nobel Prize for literature at the same time?' the other party said that there have been... In history." Wang Anyi clearly remembered that interesting dialogue. After winning the Nobel Prize, Mo Yan said to Wang Anyi, "how wonderful it would be if we both won the prize at the same time!" Wang Anyi believes that the greatest impact of Mo Yan's award on Chinese literature is to reward "continuous writing", which means recognition and praise for professional writers. "Looking back at the history of Chinese literature, only our generation has been able to write in a real sense. The previous writing has been calculated since the May 4th movement, and is always interrupted. Only our generation can have continuous writing. This is the real meaning of Mo Yan's award!" Wang Anyi said. However, although Mo Yan won the prize because of his novels, his novelettes are actually better, because novelettes are "somewhat restrained, and it is impossible to do everything, while short stories are too restrained, and long novels are too complicated". Of course, novels are often favored by film and television workers because of the ups and downs of the story and the fate of the characters. Mo Yan's red sorghum is the best evidence. Although Wang Anyi's works have always been alienated from film and television dramas, song of eternal regret is an exception. Wang Anyi's portrayal of Wang Qiyao, the daughter of the alley, as well as her depiction of the various forms of the market and her family, obviously comes from her deep understanding of the city of Shanghai. Wang Anyi believes that there are only two ways to write in Shanghai On more than one occasion, I heard Wang Anyi say that when I was a child, I lived near Huaihai Road and Sinan Road, where the alley structure and house layout were quite strange.
