Zhang Jun said that China supports the UN General Assembly to hold a high-level meeting to commemorate the first international day against hate speech. In July, 2021, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to establish June 18 as the international day for combating hate speech. China is a co sponsor of the resolution. Zhang Jun said that to deal with and eliminate hate speech, all countries should adhere to mutual respect and carry out equal dialogue. Individual countries should learn from the lessons learned, seriously reflect, abandon arrogance and prejudice, and earnestly respect the concerns of other countries. They should not condone hate speech and spread false information under the banner of freedom of speech. We should uphold openness and inclusiveness, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, promote people to people exchanges, eliminate estrangement and misunderstanding, and remove the breeding ground for hate speech. All countries should attach importance to the fundamental role of education in eliminating hate speech, cultivate the young generation's understanding and respect for different cultures, and improve the people's ability to identify and criticize information. Political leaders and the news media should shoulder special responsibilities to block the generation and spread of hate speech and promote an inclusive culture of peace. Zhang Jun said that hate speech erodes the common values of all mankind, affects social stability, induces violent conflicts, undermines peace and security, hinders the realization of sustainable development, and seriously poisons the efforts of the international community to cooperate to meet global challenges. The international community cannot tolerate this. When talking about the stigmatized speech dragging down the anti epidemic process, Zhang Jun said that since the outbreak of the COVID-19, all kinds of stigmatized speech and false and false information have triggered a new "information epidemic", seriously interfering with and undermining international solidarity and anti epidemic cooperation. Zhang Jun pointed out that racist speech promotes hate crimes. At present, extreme thoughts such as discrimination against African Americans and hatred against Asian Americans are rampant, and racist attacks occur frequently, which is distressing. In addition, hate speech has led to the intensification of "Islamophobia". To this end, the General Assembly adopted a resolution in March this year, which designated March 15 as the international day to combat "Islamophobia". China is honored to co sponsor the resolution and work with all parties to eliminate hate speech and "Islamophobia". Zhang Jun said that in the face of global challenges, the fundamental way out is to strengthen unity and work together under the flag of the United Nations. China is willing to work with other countries to practice genuine multilateralism, promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind and jointly build a better world.
