The Hong Kong Palace Museum of culture announced on the 5th that 914 precious cultural relics from the Palace Museum have been approved by the central government to go to Hong Kong and will be unveiled at the opening exhibition of the Hong Kong Palace Museum of culture in July. This is the largest overseas loan of collections of the palace museum since its establishment in 1925. It is reported that 914 exhibits were selected from the more than 1.86 million collections of the Palace Museum, including 166 first-class cultural relics, belonging to the "national treasure" level, accounting for 18% of the total number of borrowed exhibits. Most of the cultural relics are exhibited in Hong Kong for the first time. One of the opening exhibitions of the Cultural Museum of the Forbidden City of Hong Kong - "national treasures: calligraphy and painting of the Jin, Tang, song and Yuan Dynasties collected by the Palace Museum" brings together 35 classic paintings and calligraphy works dating back to the Tang and Song dynasties. It is the largest outbound exhibition of ancient calligraphy and painting treasures collected by the Palace Museum in the past 15 years. The cultural relics visited Hong Kong this time have a full range of cultural relics with a time span of 5000 years, covering all major categories of the collection of the Palace Museum, including painting, calligraphy, bronze ware, ceramics, gold and silver ware, enamel, jade, lacquer ware, glass, seal printing, weaving and embroidery, jewelry, sculpture, books and classics, ancient architecture, etc. Chenzhisi, chairman of the board of directors of the Palace Museum of Hong Kong, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the central government, the Ministry of culture and tourism, the State Administration of cultural heritage, the Palace Museum and other units, as well as the support of the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, for letting 914 rare treasures of the Palace Museum "go out of the palace" and be exhibited in the Palace Museum of Hong Kong. Wuzhihua, curator of the Hong Kong Palace Museum of culture and Museum, said that each cultural relic exhibited in the Palace Museum has its unique historical, cultural, artistic and scientific values, showing the long history, breadth and depth of Chinese culture. Hong Kong's Palace Museum of culture and art exhibits the treasures of the Palace Museum in a new way, combining new technologies and new media. We are looking forward to the opening of the Cultural Museum of the Forbidden City in July, presenting these art treasures to Chinese and foreign visitors and sharing the interesting stories behind them with the public. It is reported that the exhibition period of 914 cultural relics in the Cultural Museum of the Forbidden City of Hong Kong ranges from one month to more than one year. From the perspective of cultural relics protection, some cultural relics need to be displayed in rotation. For example, ancient paper or silk cultural relics, such as calligraphy and painting, are very sensitive to light, temperature and humidity. The exhibition period is only 1 to 3 months. After this exhibition, some cultural relics will return to the Palace Museum for several years. (Xinhua News Agency)
