How should education be transformed after the epidemic

2022-05-06

The epidemic has brought a series of difficulties to education and teaching at all levels and stages. After the rush of online teaching of "class suspension without school suspension" before, local education administrative departments and schools have been able to make emergency plans calmly, but the social blocking and psychological anxiety of teachers and students have also become prominent. From the perspective of educational philosophy, some teachers do not regard online teaching as a normalization trend, do not adjust teaching ideas and improve teaching efficiency in time, and still continue the traditional concept of knowledge education and score first. From the perspective of educational content, online education in many places mainly focuses on the education of general cultural knowledge in the national curriculum, and fails to seize the opportunity to educate students in morality and sense of responsibility, scientific knowledge and personal protection, public health knowledge, healthy lifestyle, etc. From the perspective of teaching methods, teachers, students and education managers still do not adapt to online education to varying degrees, and many teachers' online teaching ability still needs to be improved. Charles Rosenberg, a professor at Harvard University, put forward in explaining the epidemic that people react differently in each period from the occurrence to the end of the epidemic. Among them, in the regression and review period, we should be able to conduct timely and rational reflection on the impact of the epidemic, which is conducive to deepening human understanding and reaching ideological consensus as a whole. In the field of basic education, we should consider how to transform the objective understanding and experience of dealing with public health events into a new starting point for improving the level of educational governance and the health literacy of teachers and students. First of all, we should change the educational concept and truly practice comprehensive education. The outbreak of COVID-19 has once again proved the importance of comprehensive education, and it is necessary to make up a major weakness of Education - scientific literacy and humanistic literacy education. From the perspective of scientific literacy, it is to let students understand the necessary scientific knowledge, master the basic scientific methods and the spirit of advocating science, correctly deal with the contradictory relationship between man and society, nature, others and self, learn to live a healthy life and develop good living habits. In terms of humanistic quality, schools should pay more attention to cultivating students' internal quality and cultural heritage. Secondly, we should expand the educational content and extend the span of students' knowledge. Public health knowledge, health education, life education and disaster education are related to people's basic survival ability and life value orientation. In our school education practice, due to the influence of many factors, the important contents of these school education and teaching are often ignored, which is very unfavorable to promoting the development of students' physical and mental health. In addition, from the perspective of the epidemic prevention and control, due to the lack of rational understanding of sudden disasters and the ability to deal with crises, many students have had negative psychological reactions or problems of panic, anxiety, confusion and even depression. Therefore, school education should extend the span of knowledge and enable students to have the survival ability and crisis response ability of rational judgment, calm response and scientific decision-making in the face of disasters and crises by strengthening disaster education and crisis education. Finally, we should change the way of education and explore intelligent education. During the epidemic period, students and teachers studied at home and taught online. Teachers changed from the "giver" and "controller" of face-to-face and hand-in-hand to the "guide" and "motivator" in the information technology teaching environment. They tried the unprecedented reform of education and teaching methods of "letting go", changed the situation of not letting go, not wanting to let go and not letting go in the past, and played the role of growth tutor, Encourage students to form a "learning community", encourage and urge students to carry out "group learning" and "autonomous learning", and help students grow in self-discipline, independent thinking, communication and cooperation. Online education and teaching in response to the epidemic is both emergency and innovation. Education should continue to explore the reform of education methods. In particular, on the basis of refining and summarizing the experience of "non-stop teaching and non-stop school", explore intelligent teaching methods, enhance students' learning autonomy and effectiveness, improve the intelligent level of teachers' and students' online education, and let intelligent technology serve the personalized growth of each child.
