The foreign ministry accused Japan of tampering with textbooks to evade historical responsibility

2022-03-31

It is reported that Japan's Ministry of education, culture, science and technology recently approved a number of high school textbooks to dilute and distort the historical facts of Japan's forced recruitment of "comfort women" and forced labor, and publicize Japan's unilateral proposition on the Diaoyu Islands. In response, foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular press conference on March 30 that the forced recruitment of "comfort women" and forced labor was a serious anti humanitarian crime committed during Japan's militarist aggression and expansion. This is an internationally recognized historical fact with irrefutable evidence and cannot be tampered with. In the examination and approval of textbooks, it is Japan's usual trick to deny and distort its history of aggression by playing with word games to blur historical facts and dilute and evade historical responsibility. China is strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposed to this and has made solemn representations to Japan. "We seriously urge Japan to face up to and reflect on the history of aggression, draw a clear line with militarism, and properly handle the problems left over by history in a responsible manner, so as not to further lose faith with its Asian neighbors and the international community." Wang Wenbin said. "I would like to emphasize that the Diaoyu Islands and their affiliated islands have been China's inherent territory since ancient times, and China has indisputable sovereignty over them. No matter what actions Japan does in textbooks, it will not change the fact that the Diaoyu Islands belong to China. Any words and deeds attempting to damage China's territorial sovereignty are futile." He said. (Xinhua News Agency)
