At about 3:00 p.m. on February 17, Yuehai No. 32 shield machine with a diameter of more than 8 meters drove out of the working shaft buried about 50 meters deep in Mak village, Nansha District, Guangzhou, like a "dragon out of the hole", and the gz16#-gz17# shield section of the Pearl River Delta water resources allocation project was successfully connected, which caused the collective cheers of nearly 200 builders on the site. The author learned at the scene that this is the sixth water conveyance tunnel with a distance of more than kilometers through the water resources allocation project in the Pearl River Delta this year, marking the phased progress of the important livelihood project in the Great Bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. The total length of the water transmission line of the project is 113.1km. It crosses the core urban agglomeration of the Pearl River Delta by means of deep pipeline water transmission. It is a water conservancy project with the largest investment scale, the longest water transmission line and the widest water receiving area in the history of Guangdong. Among them, the construction of the main line and branch line of the project is divided into 48 water conveyance shield sections, of which 14 have been connected so far. It is expected that the whole water conveyance tunnel shield section of the whole project will be connected in the second half of this year. "The completion of the water conveyance tunnel is 3 days ahead of the expected construction period, laying a solid foundation for the completion of the whole project by the end of 2023."
