The latest labor force statistics released by the Statistics Department of the HKSAR Government on the 18th showed that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 4.1% from September to November 2021 to 3.9% from October to December 2021. According to statistics, the underemployment rate decreased from 1.8% from September to November 2021 to 1.7% from October to December 2021. The total employment increased from 3673300 from September to November 2021 to 3680700 from October to December 2021, an increase of about 7400. From October to December, the unemployment rate of major economic sectors in Hong Kong fell, including construction, retail, accommodation and catering services and education. Luo Zhiguang, Secretary for labour and welfare of the HKSAR government, said that Hong Kong's economy continued to recover and the labour market continued to improve from October to December. Recently, there has been a new wave of epidemic. Due to the tightening of social distance measures, consumer related industries will face some pressure in the short term.
