2021-12-15

Before attending the executive meeting on the 14th, the chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mrs Carrie Lam, said that the Chief Secretary for administration, Mr Li Jiachao, led a government team including the Secretary for security, the Secretary for food and health and the Secretary for innovation and technology to Shenzhen on the same day to prepare for a face-to-face meeting with representatives of Guangdong Province to discuss customs clearance arrangements. Lin zhengyue'e said that the customs clearance involves reopening land ports, so we should discuss the details with Guangdong Province, mainland customs, relevant mainland municipal governments and relevant departments. The meeting will help the Security Bureau to assess the carrying capacity of land ports and decide how to restart them. Mrs Lam pointed out that there was no new information and details on the issue of customs clearance quotas and distribution. She believes that in addition to official and business needs, people in need will also be allowed to apply for quotas. Lin zhengyue'e also mentioned that the "Hong Kong Health Code" was opened on December 10. As of 9:00 on the 14th, more than 440000 citizens had applied for registration accounts, of which more than 150000 citizens had started accounts. The operation of "Hong Kong Health Code" is smooth, and the process is generally smooth after the expansion of the application of "safe travel". She said that in the next step, she hopes that the use of "safe travel" will become more popular. The authorities have contacted service providers and charities to deal with the problem that some older people do not have smartphones. (Xinhua News Agency)
