Don't misread the wild boar or it will no longer be a "three haves" animal

2021-12-14

Recently, the State Forestry and grassland Administration issued the list of terrestrial wild animals with important ecological, scientific and social values (Draft for comments) to solicit public opinions. Among them, wild boars that were included in the list of terrestrial wild animals with important economic and scientific research values protected by the state in 2000 have been deleted. In recent years, the population of wild boars in China has increased, and various damage situations have occurred frequently. The situation of "farmers working hard for a year and wild boars destroyed overnight" has occurred from time to time in various places. Wild boars not only have a wide impact on agricultural production, but also often hurt people. In view of the fact that wild boars are "three haves" protected animals, farmers will be punished according to law for hunting wild boars without permission in order to protect crops. Not long ago, Wu and his wife in Xichuan County, Henan Province were severely damaged by wild boars because of their wheat at home. They hunted and killed 8 wild boars within three months. Finally, they were sentenced to probation by the court for the crime of illegal hunting. Similar events often trigger extensive discussions on law and human relations. If the wild boar can be deleted from the "three haves" animal list, it will undoubtedly give farmers a long sigh of relief. But many netizens ridiculed this and brought wild boar meat to the table, which will soon achieve the balance between people and pigs. This kind of thinking is debatable and more vigilant. Firstly, the proposed deletion of wild boar from the "three haves" animal list is an adjustment made after comprehensively considering the population change dynamics, threats, social concerns and other factors, and evaluating its ecological, scientific research and social value. Wildlife resources are owned by the state. For the protection, development and rational utilization of wildlife resources and the maintenance of ecological balance, even if they are not protected, they cannot be hunted at will. China's wildlife protection law clearly stipulates that anyone who hunts and catches wildlife not under special state protection shall obtain a hunting license issued by the wildlife protection department of the local people's government at or above the county level according to law, and be subject to the management of hunting quota; Hunters shall hunt according to the type, quantity, location, tools, methods and time limit specified in the special hunting and catching license and hunting license. Wild boars should not be hastily labeled as "harmful animals" because of their repeated harm. According to research, the habit of wild boars turning the soil and arching the ground can effectively promote the healthy succession of forests, and the seeds of many plants can be spread through the feeding and activities of wild boars. Therefore, in view of the professionalism of hunting and the consideration of maintaining ecological balance, relevant departments should organize professional forces to hunt them after scientific research and judgment. Secondly, the scientific community recognizes that wild animals carry a large number of unknown human bacteria, viruses and microorganisms. Statistics show that many new infectious diseases come from animals, and the law clearly stipulates that it is strictly prohibited to eat wild animals. It can be seen that wild boar is not suitable for eating in terms of taste and safety. Even if it is killed, it should be treated innocuously according to the standard process. No matter whether the wild boar will disappear from the "three haves" animal list, people should have a more rational and scientific understanding of it. They can't simplify complex problems, let alone do whatever they want. (Xinhua News Agency)
