Recently, 21 directors of the collaboration group and many scientists in the field of Phenomics from 19 countries attended the Third Council held online by the international collaboration group on human phenotypic group research (IHPC), and conducted in-depth discussions on the next important issues such as accelerating the "international big science program of human phenotypic group". It is reported that phenotype is the biological characteristic of life, which is jointly determined by gene and environment (including environmental exposure and lifestyle); Phenotypic group refers to the collection of all phenotypes in the whole process of organism from micro (i.e. molecular) composition to macro, from embryonic development to aging and death. The international scientific community has fully recognized that human phenotypic group is another strategic commanding point and original innovation source of life science after genome. The meeting revealed that Chinese scientists have preliminarily drawn the world's first navigation map of human phenotype group. According to Jin Li, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of Fudan University and President of Shanghai International Institute of human phenotype group, the navigation map of human phenotype group is the correlation map between tens of thousands or even 100000 different human phenotypes. In 2020, Chinese scientists began to carry out the "core cohort study on the health phenotype of Shanghai natural population" in Shanghai. By November 19 this year, more than 730 volunteers aged 20-60 who live in Shanghai had completed the panoramic phenotypic measurement of more than 30000 indicators per person for two days and one night on the Zhangjiang platform. This enabled Chinese scientists to obtain massive phenotypic baseline big data of natural population samples across more than 20 fields and categories from macro to micro scales for the first time, and the total amount of data exceeded 3PB. At present, the navigation map database website for scientific research users has been put into public beta, and many scientific teams are screening strong associations with great scientific significance and application value from the existing version 1.0 navigation map to carry out further scientific research. According to the concept, the "International Grand Science Program of human phenotype group" will eventually carry out panoramic measurement of more than 100000 phenotypic indicators for 50000 people and specific phenotypic application demonstration measurement of more than 500000 people in representative populations on all continents around the world.
